Thirsk Falcons Senior Development Team
Coaches - Wayne Sowden and Dick Bramham

The idea of a Senior Development Team is a New concept to the Club, Historically we ran teams up to u16s and then players were encouraged to move in to our Senior teams, this can sometimes be difficult with numbers high in Senior Teams and younger players feeling too young to participate, players then drifted away from the Club and some came back in later years, Realising we needed to bridge the Gap the Club successfully entered a u18s Team into the Teesside League, and with our u16s now moving up into the u18s League we felt the need to form a Senior Development Team which will see our u18s Teams move up in to a Saturday Men’s League in the Harrogate and District Football League, as a Club we believe this will give us continuity from Junior Football and a pathway for players through into Men’s Football this will encourage our players to continue playing football at the highest level for as long as they wish, The main befit we see is that like-minded Senior Players will be able to boost the Development Squad and bring some valuable experience to the Team.
The Senior Development Team is Managed and Coached by Wayne Sowden and Dick Bramham, Dick is a Fully Licenced FA Coach and FA Goal keeper Coach, Wayne is a Fully licensed FA Coach, FA Goal Keeper Coach and Holds the UEFA B Licence, Between them they have over 20 Years’ experience in Coaching football they have been involved with Thirsk Falcons for over 10 years, Their Philosophy is to Develop players to be the best they can be, they adopt an enjoyable but informative approach to coaching and encourage Players to take ownership of their own Development which in turn helps them develop understanding and passion for the Game, They believe this method helps create players who are good leaders, learners and great decision makers, Players who can express themselves on the pitch and who are not afraid to make mistakes, after all the best players in the world still get it wrong sometimes and problem solving helps us all learn a better way do to things. Both Wayne and Dick believe by giving the Players the Skills and Techniques needed to learn and grow, this in turn helps the Whole Team Develop and achieve the best possible results in what can only be described as a highly competitive Men’s Saturday Football League.
