 11th Sept 2011  Vs 21st Allstars

Quite simply a game of two halves lots of passing and movement in the first half in which J.Peirse supplied  the cross that J.Fearn controlled and struck beyond the keeper to give us a deserved 1 - 0  lead.  The problem was that everyone thought that the game was won and some basic errors in the second half lead to the opposition getting back into the game and in the end coming out as comfortable 3 - 1 winners. We can and will improve so take the positives from the game and learn from our mistakes.

 18th Sept Vs Stockton Town

This was a  battle because we never really passed the ball around as much we should have and got caught in possession too many times, for some parts of the game we looked strong and eventually we managed to go 1 - 0 up with a goal from S.Marchant.  We could have scored a few more but poor technique and some good defending prevented that which as is the case with football lead to us conceding a sloppy goal out of nothing.  That was not the end of it as a soft penalty was awarded against us and the best player that Stockton had stepped up only to blaze the ball wide of the goal, then an inspired substitution changed the game in our favour as C.Scott in the last 90 seconds rose highest from one of our corners to plant his header firmly into the back of the net leaving us as 2 - 1 winners.

30th October Vs Norton & Stockton ANC

This was a game where in all honesty either side could have won it, it was end to end but both teams lacked that bit of composure on the ball which would lead to a goal, although Thirsk had an excellent chance quite early on to go ahead S.Marchant fired his shot against the far post it took about 20 minutes before C.Scott picked up the ball and drove forward and with that bit of extra magic went past a couple of players before firing past the opposition goalkeeper apart from that it was  not much of a first half in terms of passing and movement.

Following the half time talk it did not get much better as Stocton took the game to Thirsk and it seemed like constant waves of attacking right until the last 5 minutes when Stockton had about 8 corners one after the other, the ball was cleared from our area time after time with bodies thrown in the way of shots especially by man of the match P.Parvin.  This resolute defending was rewarded as one flowing counter attack ended up with S.Marchant running in on goal and slotting home with only 2 minutes remaining to seal the game.  Not our best performance but 3 points gained.

06/11/11 Vs Tibs A cup

Although we had never beaten TIBs A before we had always managed to give them a good game and this was another close affair we went 2 - 0 up and everything was looking fine, unfortunately a defensive error lead to a goal for TIBs and it gave them hope. TIBs eventually through some good pressure were awarded a penalty after the ball struck a defenders hand however they missed it and then after injury to not one but two goalkeepers they pushed for an equaliser however we held on for the  2 - 1 victory.

13/11/11 Vs Rufforth Cup

Wow what a game 2 - 0 up and working hard until half time, 7 minutes later 2 - 3 down and looking beaten but an excellent strike made it 3 - 3 could we hold on for penalties maybe not 2 minutes left 3 - 4 but we kept going 20 seconds from the final whistle a shot from long range and its 4 - 4. Penalty shoot out and unfortunately we lost but to be honest the team that played the better football won. It could have been different if we had remained calm and pased the ball just that little bit better.......

20/11/11 Vs Brinkburn FC

This was an entertaining game of football with Falcons starting brightly and very attack minded in the first 15 minutes before a good passing move lead to our opening goal unfortunately we did not stay fully focused while defending and gifted the opposition striker an easy goal. When we passed the ball around we looked a real threat and a although a long range effort was ruled out unjustly for Falcons the boys were soon back in front and in a devastating spell increased the lead to 5 - 1 at half time. It is a bit easy to relax when you are ahead almost straight from the kick off Brinkburn pulled a goal back this gave them confidence and another goal followed shortly after to make it 5 -3 but Falcons settled down and began passing the ball again which gave us numerous opportunities to score and we took 4 more of those chances with the opposition getting a late 4th with C.Scott scoring the best of the 9 goals with a long run and precise finish. C.Scott scored 5, J.Peirse scored 3 and L.Bulimore 1. Well done to all involved in a good team performance.

04/12/11 vs Kader FC

To be honest it was a closely contested first half with chances at both ends and it did seem that if Falcons could score first an upset was possible, unfortunately two goals were conceded that should have been dealt with basic errors in defending and it was all uphill from there but at half time only 2 goals between the teams was fair enough.

11/12/11 Vs TIBs A

A very good match with Falcons just losing out in the second half it could have gone either way but sometimes you just need that bit of luck. Both teams worked hard and the conditions were not ideal but it was a good effort by everyone involved.

 08/01/12 Vs Seaton Carew Lions

A closely fought match with an unusual starting line up some players in different positions but a great effort considering the month off with2 goals from S.Marchant both left footed being the difference between the sides, J.Fearn and C.Manson were both excellent and it was a victory that could so easily have been a defeat. The most unselfish pass from T.Agar was the pass that won the game with 5 minutes left so a special mention to him and also to S.Burn who played his first game along with C.Manson.

22/01/12 Vs Greatham FC

On a very windy day on a very large pitch Falcons gave 35 minutes of determined and disciplined football against the top team in the division and at half time with the score at 0 - 0 you would have thought that the final score was going to be very close but. When you don't do what is asked of you by the manager and let the opposition score 20 seconds into the second half and again 5 minutes later you know it is going to be difficult.  Falcons did manage to create quite a few opportunities to pull a goal back and fortunately T.Agars cross was deflected and wrong footed the opposition goalkeeper to make it 2 - 1, at this point a draw looked very likely until a clearance was blocked by what looked like an arm and before the defence could react it was 3 - 1 this was the killer blow as it knocked the belief out of the lads and the opposition went on to score another 2 goals which does not reflect on what should have been a much closer game. However I must say that Greatham deserved to win the game on the balance of chances and I hope they do well for the rest of the season.

20/02/12 Vs Billingham Rangers

A close first half with very little passing and lots of set pieces and a defensive errors lead to the only goal of the match. A long injury stoppage while waiting for an ambulance seemed to distract Falcons but the opposition continued to work harder than us and put just that little bit more quality into their game, although we pushed hard at the end it was not enough. Hopefully some of the poorer aspects of the game on this day will not happen again as some of the players let themselves down a bit.
